We are excited to announce we have another ebook available on our store, this time thanks to author Patrick Love, an active member of our SAC community. Patrick is the Vice President for Student Affairs at NYIT and a veritable celebrity in the #SAChat world, though he will deny it.
After working with grad students and new professionals in the field of Student Affairs for many years, Patrick saw the anxiety the #SAsearch produced. He was inspired to put his work learning and teaching about the job search to good use in his book, “Job Searching in Student Affairs.” Within 2 months, he compiled his past blog posts and other experiences into a neat little package.
10% of all bookstore sales goes towards our #SAgrad scholarship fund.
In his own words, the book
…offers an insider perspective on most aspects of the #SAsearch, including resumes, managing stress, interviewing, and negotiating offers.
We asked him a couple questions about the things he learned while writing “Job Searching in Student Affairs.”
A person who has worked hard, taken initiative, done excellent work, made their supervisor look great, and put students first.
That there is an ideal length of a resume—it needs to be as long as it needs to be, though concise and not padded.
How few people across industries read cover letters.
The importance and impact of Active Active verbs (see the book!).
