This year has brought on many challenges, many transitions, and many fun times. In this time of major transition, I take on the strong outlook of choosing a positive attitude and making sure that I see the positive things in all situations. Whenever I hear someone say that today is going to be a bad day, I always think to myself how they already lost the day.
Surviving a Hurricane
A couple of weeks ago, I experienced my first (and hopefully only) hurricane. Most people were focused on the bad things that are going to happen. I was not only thinking about those things, but I decided to choose a positive attitude and be solution oriented.
The Power of Disney
One of the fun things that I have had the pleasure of doing while working in Florida was finally getting the chance to go to Disney World. Let me tell you, it is as amazing and magical as everyone says. After working hard for a long period of time, it is important to reward yourself. As my reward, I decided to visit Disney. I got to conquer my fear of roller coasters and heights.
Community service is a powerful part of life. One of the things I love about student affairs and working at a college campus is all of the community service opportunities. This past month, my staff and I put on a program to make toys for sheltered cats and dogs. It has been one of the most rewarding experiences to help out cats and dogs in need of good toys.
In the end, I always remember to keep a positive mindset. I remember to have fun in life before it passes by too quickly, and to give back to the community. Next month I look forward to telling you all about my MBTI results and how I incorporate that in my work and life.
