Careers are in the fabric of our lives. We spend 40 hours a week at our jobs, talk about them with our friends, and sometimes relocate for the right one. Whether we like it or not, one of the first questions we ask of people we have just met is about their job. There’s no way around it; these topics matter.
As a result, we at the Commission for Career Services from ACPA have teamed up with the Student Affairs Collective to produce #SACareer; an examination of careers from a number of angles. In this ongoing series, we (and maybe you!) will be addressing careers in student affairs, careers outside of student affairs, and the work of career services professionals. This effort is designed for you, so check in on Thursdays for new posts on this topic by your colleagues. These topics may range from your professional development in student affairs, career services topics for our campuses, trends in hiring on- and off-campus, and more. Posting for #SACareer is not limited to Commission for Career Services members.
If you have a post idea that addresses any of our target subjects, you can contact me at jnelko@uw.edu to get on the schedule. Be on the lookout for future posts every Thursday afternoon!
