What makes student affairs so special? One answer that comes to mind is the relationships between people that make up the entire field. All the good in the field comes first from this relationship between students and professionals, colleagues and coworkers, the list goes on. The profession focuses on the affairs of students after all, the very life and activities that these people experience while at their institution, and how we can impact them. Student affairs is a profession of connections with others.
The nature of student affairs leads us to other people similar to us in our passions, and one can’t help but fall madly in friendship with someone that they meet along the way of their career paths.
So, this February, our series #SAConnects focuses on the relationships between great humans that make up the field of SA. We will hear stories from a diverse group of professionals about a real connection or friendship they made while working in student affairs, that blossomed past the realm of their professional life. We will hear how they met this person, how the person changed them, and what makes that relationship so special. And we will hear how the field of student affairs impacts and nurtures these stories.
