It’s December! Whether it’s stressful or shiny for you, this month is indeed an important one. In the spirit of endings and new beginnings, we wanted to hear your stories from the past year. I stress the idea of stories because December simply begs for them. Maybe it’s the visions of chunky story books by the fire, and a random teddy bear, that jump in my head, but if we don’t take a moment to reflect, and relax a little, then this joyous season will be lost in the usual bustling of our busy student affairs lives. This is not to say the real issues and real tasks to accomplish aren’t there, but I hope these daily posts give you a moment of peace in a hectic day.
The stories of #SAreflects will focus on the big moments of 2014 and the lessons learned within our careers. We are asking our amazing community of SA Pros to think about how they have changed this year. What did you discover about yourself, others, and your profession? What event will you remember forever? What will you flashback to when someone mentions this year, 20 years from now?
Among the student development theories, the pro-dev, the crises and uncertainty, I have noticed a trend in the thinking of the #SAChat family: it is actually about the stories, at the end of the day. None of it would matter without the individual connections and moments we encounter.
I can’t wait to see what tales you have to recount, being it dragon slaying, or moments of magic. So let’s tell our stories, and grow down for just one moment by the metaphorical fire I just set up in our digital living room.
