As we head into another #SAsearch season I wanted to ask a question I have been thinking about a lot lately. It is in regard to non-HigherEd/Student Affairs masters programs. I see on a lot of job postings that a degree in higher education/student affairs/counseling or related field is generally preferred and I’ve sat on a few search committees. To be honest we generally got people applying from those student affairs & higher ed masters programs. I have had the chance to be part of some really awesome interviews where candidates have been able to explain why they have the degree they have and how it impacts them as a practitioner. My question today is; do you think your department is open to hiring someone with a non-HigherEd/Student Affairs masters?
